SERVICE & CHECKIN -- 👎 poor
$30 early checkin fee, following a 15 minutes wait at the unmanned front desk seems ironic 🤔.
Not off to a great start, but it would track with the rest of this staycation experience
TRANSITIONS -- 👍 ok
Great themes & claustrophobia.
The corridors stay true to the original design of the building. Dimensions were challenging: tiny entrances, narrow halls, & the elevator holds 1, max, with luggage.

ROOM [Suite] -- 👎 bad
Not at all as contemporary nor accurately depicted by the website images.
Instead, it was a dark color palette & an old-world vibe; very much of the times wrt fixtures, appliances, etc.
The aromatics were nice & there was plenty of storage, but the building is overdue for a massive reno:
LOUD radiators, thin walls & floorboards warped beyond belief or gapped (covered with carpet😳).

BED -- 👍 great
The bed was quite glorious: Fluffy, supportive, clean, & perfect pillows .
Bedsheets were well-curated & the linens, as a whole, were spectacularly.
Unfortunately, adjoining doors are situated only a few feet between the bed of this unit & common area of the other unit (!?). Conversations at normal volume are completely audible through the door.
I couldn't sleep & left the first night.

BATH -- An average shower experience featuring your status quo designer (Gilchrest & Soames) bath products. This line is quite underwhelming due to the weak lather & moisture potential. Still, its usable in a pinch & exciting if you enjoy the pastiche old-world hotel glamor. The execution leaves much to be desired due to the constrictive nozzle contraptions; very frustrating to use if you're in a rush.
The water pressure was redeeming at least, complemented with a bountiful towel set & textured bathrobe.
Just beware the impossibly low toilet.

TV & ENTERTAINMENT -- 👍 good
Nice setup featuring a beautiful 46" Samsung FHD TV.
The universal remote doesn't do this model justice though.
Limited channel set with just basic programming

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- Great cell reception (Verizon).
WiFi offering is a bit disingenuous (encrypted WiFi for hotel employees; not for guests🫤). Performant enough for work but also a lot of pocket loss.
--Performance--
Video streaming - great
Online gaming - great
Video chatting - great
--Nerd Stats--
9-46 Mbps download
41-46 Mbps upload
0.7% packet loss
6.25 ms latency
14 ms jitter
FOOD & DRINK -- 👍 good
Surprisingly competitive on these amenities with a fully stocked mini bar.
The room also provides a wet bar, mini microwave, & 2 Medium mini fridges. The only thing missing was coffee.
A few room service offerings are also available.
NOISE -- 👎 bad
Severely warped floor boards reverberate like land mines 🐾💥🔊
The walls are thin so expect to hear everything from footsteps to device notifications.
Ground level units are susceptible to a bunch of street noise/chatter + the usual city sounds (sirens, horns, emergency services).
RECOMMENDATION
Final Price: $110.93
Was it worth it: no
Best part: bed
The price was really competitive until the $30 checkin fee. But this was a doomed stay from the get-go as they appear to prioritize their worst accommodations for 3rd party bookings.
If you're short on options & need the location, this might be a fit. Just don't bother arriving early (the reception desk is likely unattended anyway).
Wouldn't stay here again & do not recommend.
