AKA the racist one...
I was VERY excited to experience this property & brand initially. With exactly 5 locations in the US, I had been looking forward to this reservation for months! What better way to celebrate staycation #150 (🥳), or so I thought...
After spending 4 nights here, I can confidently say it's the worst hotel/venue/resort/spa I've ever had the misfortune of doing business with.
The overt racism & profiling I experienced here on consecutive days was dehumanizing.
I was interrogated multiple times by different staff -- including the head of security--with a flood of aggressive questioning such as:
"What are you doing here?"
"Who is your employer?"
"Do you have a room?"
"Do you have a room key?"
"Can we see the key?"
"I saw you limping but this entire (empty) area is reserved"
Embarrassing, degrading, & unprofessional on multiple levels for the immediate reasons.
Additionally, I was here on business for a once-a-year company event with my coworkers. None of whom received this kind of treatment, all being fairer-skinned and/or non-black.
A solidified 2nd-class experience at this point, but they weren't done.
A few days before this trip, I suffered a nasty fall & twisted my ankle (I forgive you AC Marriott, Pleasanton; just fix your floorboards).
Nevertheless, I was determined to make this reservation, even if that meant walking with a limp... and it did.
Despite this temporarily disability & limping like a caricature, I was still treated as the Big Black Threat.
Not once did any of the personnel I interacted with offer to assist me in reaching my destination or advise on shorter routes.
It's baffling to think this 66-acre(!) architecture would have ZERO accessibility programs, but racism is a full-time job.
They were incredibly eager to escalate a situation and have me escorted out of the convention area -- an entire atrium I had to hobble through in order to meet my employer, receive a badge, & reduce the number stop-and-frisk's.
The gaps in accessibility & hospitality are ABUNDANT, but pale in comparison to the abject hatred they harbor for minorities & persons with disabilities.
If you're a minority looking for a stress/racism free stay, please look elsewhere. We are not welcome here.
If you're an employer considering this area for your next event: save your PoC employees the trauma & avoid doing business with this venue.
Beautiful property with ugly character.
1/5 ⭐️
To end on a positive note: the shower was nice...
