SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- 👎 poor $28 early checkin fee before 2pm (overpriced & not worth it).
Front desk is pleasant (better customer service than the lifeless Gold Coast Casino Hotel).
So many elevator lifts but somehow still inconvenient & take ages to arrive... opening to grimly lit halls.
The NOLA gimmick is cute in places, but mostly tacky.
MVP employees: The hilarious valet boyz ✨
ROOM (strip view king) -- 👎 poor
First impression: Dingy & dusty.
Turnover was questionable bc this couch had a really 'stale' odor & the room just didn't feel clean.
Dimensions were comfortably spacious for two, with sufficient tabletop space & other furnishings to sit on.
Strip view was lackluster.
BED -- 👎 meh
Pillows were unpleasant due to a weak fill & lopsided shape.
Sheets had an awful texture and could use a real comforter.
The Sealy mattress did not shine under the conditions...
BATH -- 👎 poor
Just plain weird.
Why are hangers & the ice bucket setup in here??? Crazy.
An unusual location to designate for storage, esp since there's no ventilation/exhaust.
Aggressively mediocre alcove combination-shower otherwise.
TV/ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES -- 👍 ok
Dated standard definition LG TV ft a small low quality display. A slightly worse TV solution than the Gold Coast.
The gaming floor is where it's at though: tons and tons of slots surrounded by interesting gift shops & chain food.
It also didn't reek of must & smoke 🙏
WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- 👎As bad as their other casinos already covered. The BOYD Gaming buildings all equally suffer in this department. Nothing new to report.
FOOD & DRINK -- 👎 poor Fridge is NOT included despite what any booking site suggests. It's a $33 fee.
Room service menu is dense with entrees costing $15-24.
It's odd that they serve a Philly Cheesesteak but 0 NOLA cuisines. Strange execution.
Not the slightest bit allergen-friendly/aware so It's a pass anyway.
in-room:
❌ microwave (mini)
❌ mini-fridge (small)
❌ coffee
❌ tea
❌ wet-bar
❌ mini-bar
NOISE -- 👎 poor Far from soundproof. Slightly better acoustics than Gold Coast.
LOCATION -- 👍 good I felt safe as a minority. Armed security on the casino floor & by elevators presence was strong.
No dedicated ride-share area so pickup can be difficult for new drivers.
RATING/RECOMMENDATION
Price: $91.98/night
Was it worth it: no.
Best part: the valet.
It's a clone of the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino, with a tacky & unnecessary gimmick.
Would not return nor recommend.
