Skyline Hotel & Casino

SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- 👍 Great

A rustic locals casino with personality.

Common spaces were very clean & gave off a heavy desert-plains vibe. A bit eclectic, but also charming & rich with history.

Customer service was great over the phone & hospitality inside was awesome.

Con: Elevators slow as molasses

ROOM (Classic Studio, 1 King Bed) -- 👎 bad

A dusty, worn, & neglected accommodation.

First impression wasn't a win: overwhelmed by a pungent odor on entry... reminiscent of an old musk 🤢? Double bummer due to the sealed windows & nonexistent ventilation.

Chairs felt like deflated tires, well-overdue for a reupholstering or replacement.

Outlet distribution was also unproductive (consider bringing an extension cord).

BED -- 👎 poor

Support was all but depleted from this old spring mattress.

Sheets were soft & pillows had fine loft, but the sleep just wasn't...

BATH -- 👎 poor

Some real effort went into this design, evidenced by the nice tile work & electric mirror fixture.

Cleaning standards & basic maintenance are just lacking.

The exhaust was caked in dust & the shower turnover was noticeably low-effort.

TV/ENT./ACTIVITIES -- 👍 ok

A good setup: wall-mounted 55" Samsung HD smart TV. The extra tight mount & TV solution eliminates any additional connectivity/functionality. There was a tremendous amount of dust buildup around as well.

The casino is predominately slots & where all the fun awaits. These machines are some of the only machines that still accept + dispense real coins. Pretty cool.

A small (motel-size) outdoor pool is also open.

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- 👎 poor

Poorly architected with multiple over-lapping networks.

I struggled frequently with connecting to these access points.

FOOD & DRINK -- 👍 ok

DoorDash friendly.

Marketing of the prime rib was strong & enticing. Taste on the other hand, was not...: seasoning had potential but the cook was uneven & temperatures were inaccurate. It also looked nothing like the flyer. Not worth the

13.99 (dine-in) or $24 (takeout) sticker.

Snack & drink machines have good inventory & were fully stocked on every floor.

in-room:

❌ microwave

✅ mini-fridge (large)

✅coffee

❌ teapot

❌ wet-bar

❌ mini-bar

NOISE -- 👎 bad

No real privacy with these acoustics.

LOCATION -- In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trailers.

Not much of a "destination" by design.

110℉ this week...

RECOMMENDATION & RATING

Final price: $93.29/night

Was it worth it: no

Best part: price

More roomy than a big brand casino hotel & strong on hospitality.

Cleaning standards & maintenance have much room for improvement.

Underwhelming.

3/5 ⭐️
