Rosen, Shingle Creek

SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- The decor was amazing: opulent, ornate, and regal. Just MASSIVE & equally lively.

Check-in speed was also phenomenal.

Cleaning standards in the public spaces are immaculate, from the laundry facility to the spacious elevators.

Speaking of laundry: it's overpriced & machines only take cash; no ATM onsite. $3.25 washer, $1.75 dryer, $0.75 soap, $0.75 dryer sheets.

This was odd since Tap payment systems are setup & used for checkin.

As someone from California, the parking options were awful pricey too.

MVP employees: Lea

ROOM -- A generously sized queen guest room with spectacular views & high cleaning standards! I highly recommend the pool-side view if you're on the fence.

Lighting could be A LOT better; not a big deal if the room has a view for natural light.

Other highlights: ample storage options, tabletop space, & comfy seating.

It's hard to dismiss how dated the aesthetic is due to the bland browns, oversized light fixtures, lack of ergonomics, & generic paintings that I 100% confirm growing up with as a kid.

BED -- Amazing...: house brand EVERYTHING, from the soft & snuggly pillows to the custom BeautyRest mattresses.

Checks all across the board:

✅soft breathable sheets (excellent blend btw)!

✅cozy duvet

✅Thick toppers

✅Lots of pillows.

✅Extra firm mattress.

Cons? AC is loud as heck & blows directly on your face if sleeping in a deluxe double room😷.

Still slept well-enough.

BATH -- A slightly awkward split bath layout.

We found the large vanity to be an asset. I also liked the shower design textures.

The shower experience itself was just "ok". Water pressure turned out to be mediocre. Pure by gloss toiletries were also underwhelming.

The air gets rather hot in bathroom with door closed, so I'm not sure if the exhaust even worked.

Robes were meh; functional for the environment albeit dated.

Towel size was satisfactory & their upkeep was noteworthy.

TV/ENTERTAINMENT -- 55" Samsung FHD TV w/all the bells & whistles though: Chromecast, premium channels, Kid-friendly programming, spicy adult-only options, on-demand movies. Everything.

Unfortunately volume levels are weak, which makes for a bad combination with the loud AC.

The remote was also painfully slow & archaic.

Outside the room it lives up to its name. There no shortage of activities, including tennis, basketball, arcades, golf, & swimming to name a few!

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- Average free offering.

The QoS was well-thought though, with multiple tiers of service. I just wish it was encrypted...

Cell service (Verizon) is so-so in the building, even on top floors.

--Performance--

Video streaming - good

Online gaming - Great

Video chatting - good

--Nerd Stats--

15-16 Mbps download

15-38 Mbps upload

0% packet loss

13 ms latency

11 ms jitter

FOOD & DRINK -- An inconvenience for those with multiple food allergies/dietary restrictions.

Not DoorDash friendly nor are In-room dining menus labelled for food allergies & nutrition info.

For the rest of the population, it's a wonderful sea of choice due to the PLETHORA of restaurants on premises.

It's not easy to navigate the various offerings though w/o calling in.

Thankfully there's a Publix across the street

There's also a huge convenience store inside the hotel, with enough inventor to rival Target.

in-room:

❌ microwave

✅ mini-fridge (small)

✅ coffee

✅ tea

❌ wet-bar

❌ mini-bar

NOISE -- Good sound proofing between rooms.

Rooms next to the elevator are awful though...Avoid at all~ costs.⚠️

Riff-raff and/or vacuuming in the halls was also aggravating.

LOCATION -- This property felt MUCH safer than the racist Gaylord Palms Hotel-- SO MANY beautiful people of color all throughout.

The surrounding lakes & property grounds are worthy of eye-candy.

RATING

Strong in a lot of areas, just dated.

Pros outweigh any cons and best of all: none of the tacky, tasteless, disingenuous resort fees!!!! 🥹

I could see myself staying again for the right price. I'm Excited to explore more room types.

Highly recommend.
