Hotel Review: Palace Station Hotel and Casino

SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- šŸ‘ good

A well-lit, clean, & polished lobby with a welcoming atmosphere. The decor was impressive here, then flat everywhere else.

Hospitality was consistent & strong from reception to security staff. A++.

$25 early checkin fee (+ tax) killed the vibe though šŸ˜•.

ROOM [Premier Double Queen] -- šŸ‘ good

Typical Double floorplan with decent tabletop space, seating, & storage for 2.

Wallpaper has seen much MUCH better days OTOH & the colors were boring (old-world browns). Thankfully south/southeast facing rooms receive plenty of natural light, salvaging the mood.

It's pretty bare bones outside of that.

BED (Double) -- šŸ‘Ž bad

Unenjoyable sleep experience.

I felt no support from either of the mattresses. Linens were rough & the pillow set was more decorative than functional.

Just not a great composition.

BATH -- šŸ‘ great

Dimensions were on the smaller side but it was a clean, simple, & effective space.

Grout lines were pristine & the tiles themselves were beautiful.

The shower experience was similarly impressive, delivering top-tier water pressure. Towels were overflowing in abundance & in good condition.

The toiletry line (bodyograpby) was enjoyable too.

TV/ENT./ACTIVITIES -- šŸ‘ good

A noteworthy entertainment center, minus the poorly designed remote. The TV solution was generic but the actual display was solid, installed on a flexible, premium mount šŸ‘Œ.

A movie theatre & outdoor pool are also on the property (a bit of a walk due to the layout).

In the casino were a large number of slots & a healthy number of table games active. Enrolling into the rewards program was buttery smooth due to how seamlessly it's integrated into the checkin process. Great customer experience on this front + rewards are more competitive than other brands.

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- šŸ‘ good

Reasonable speeds for a free (insecure) tier.

Cellular service was a struggle inside the room šŸ˜ž.

--Performance--

Video streaming - good

Online gaming - good

Video chatting - good

--Nerd Stats--

11-14 Mbps download

11-53 Mbps upload

0% packet loss

12 ms latency

2 ms jitter

FOOD & DRINK -- šŸ‘ ok

Not DoorDash friendly.

Snacks & beverages in the gift shop are overpriced; you're better off walking the (literal) 2 minutes to 7-11.

Big chain restaurants like Wingstop & Panda Express can be found on the gaming floor.

Wingstop service was disappointing: fry cooks need more training & professionalism.

There's also a Starbucks on site (consistently out of ingredients).

in-room:

āŒ microwave (mini)

āŒ mini-fridge (small)

āŒ coffee

āŒ tea

āŒ wet-bar

āŒ mini-bar

NOISE -- šŸ‘ŽšŸ‘Ž bad

Prepare for Thin Wallsā„¢ļø & pray guests in the adjoining room aren't into howling like wolves... or housekeepers choose to sort (glass) trash outside a different room @ 9am.

LOCATION -- šŸ‘ great

I felt safe as a minority.

Security presence was strong & alert, consistently checking key cards.

Parking services were convenient, offering valet & self-park options.

RECOMMENDATION & RATING

Price: $88.99/night

Was it worth it: yes

Best part: activities

Accommodations were quite bare bones (think Gold Coast hotel) & noisy. The gaming experience + amenities made up for it & I found myself enjoying this property a lot.

I could see myself staying here again due to the competitive pricing & gambling rewards.

Highly recommend this property if considering something up north & away from the strip.

4/5 āļø
