Chancellor Hotel

SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- 👍 great

Staff were uniformly excellent in hospitality & concierge. The checkin flow has become much quicker since my last reservation  🙌.

Public spaces are the epitome of clean with sharp attention to detail.

Stairs were a nightmare unfortunately: steep, thin, tight stairwell. Stick to the elevator (in spite of its slowness)⚠️.

ROOM [Deluxe; Double]-- 👍 great

Remarkably clean featuring lots of amenities: functional windows, many outlets/adapters, umbrella, & dedicated workspace.

This configuration was equally straightforward as the Double, with the addition of a large walk-in closet! Def worth the rate if on an extended stay.

Pictures online were accurate & the dimensions work well for 1 but an intimate couple could also survive it 😌.

BED [Queen, Twin] -- 👍 good

Their Queen mattresses were much better than the Twins. As far as bedding goes, A+ for everything: clean, lightly used, & soft.

Specialty pillows provided enough support through the night & stack well.

Satisfying sleep experience (when not in a Twin)*.

BATH -- 👍 ok

Small space with a cute aesthetic, thanks to the rubber duck 🐤. They don't slouch on cleanliness either.

The shower & tub experiences were satisfying: great water pressure & temperatures.

Theres just so many fixtures forced in here that it's cramped. The toilet installation especially wasn't comfortable.

TV/ENT./ACTIVITIES -- 👍 good

A 40" flatscreen smart TV with satellite programming. Not a fancy display by any means. It still gets the job done & works for drowning out convos from other rooms.

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- 👍 ok

Free WiFi provided was unencrypted with fair speeds for a complementary tier.

Cell reception was strong too.

FOOD & DRINK -- 👍 good

DoorDash friendly.

A quaint bar operates beside the lobby, exclusively for beverage services. Despite the lack of a food offering, there's complimentary treats occasionally served in the lobby (e.g. cookies, fresh popcorn).

For even more fun snacks, there's a nostalgia candy bowl in-room.

Water & ice available on guest floors.

in-room:

❌ microwave (mini)

✅ mini-fridge (medium)

❌ coffee/tea

❌ wet-bar

❌ mini-bar

NOISE -- 👎 poor

Conversations carry effortless between doors & walls. Not as bad as Axiom Hotel, but far from ideal. Some days were fine & others were insufferable.

YMMV!

LOCATION -- 👍 great

An ideal property for touring the city on a budget or for a no-frills layover. Walkability is amazing & it's a safe space.

RECOMMENDATION

Final Price: $105.33/night

Was it worth it? Yes

Best part: cleanliness

A very impressive privately owned hotel. It's seriously priced, dense with amenities, & if potential noise isn't a dealbreaker, it's the best on this block.

I've booked this one numerous times & highly recommend it.

4.5/5 ⭐️
