Best Western, Cañon City

SERVICE & CHECKIN -- The manager here is so friendly & down to earth; I'd come back just for the endearing customer service.

On top of that, they provide uncovered parking onsite, free early checkin, & 1 hr late checkout!

LOBBY, ELEVATOR, CORRIDORS -- There isn't much of a lobby to linger in but it's fine. Elevators are very nice & clean, just really really slow.

Taking the stairs is your best bet here (water station is also accessible here & there's only 2 floors).

ROOM (suite) -- Spacious carpeted suite with modern furnishings & ample storage. It provided a lot of utility for work (ergonomic dedicated workspace),

while also feeling quite cozy. Lightning was perfect: a combination of overhead + natural light from functional windows with a view.

The view was great for people watching but the windows could use a thorough wash.

BED -- We slept in a single king configuration.

I liked the mattress, good firmness level + support. The pillow build was also fluffy & appropriately sized.

The sheets felt generic, but they were clean & did the job.

No-frills as far as nightstands go, but the headboard is a beauty & I like the suspended lamps.

Satisfying quality of sleep.

BATH -- In-room heart jacuzzi was the highlight! 🛀🫧❤️

The traditional bathroom area was a split half-bath washroom with a huge vanity & abundant toiletries in the other half.

The sink needs more attention/maintenance because it did not drain well (likely clogged). One of the tub jets also did not work.

Overall good water pressure, cleanliness, & fixtures--solid!

TV & ENTERTAINMENT -- A bit dated on the TV equipment, but it's adequate: 40" Samsung TV on swivel base with basic programming. It's difficult to comfortably watch TV from the bed or in-room tub, since the base is adhered to the dresser. A longer cord or mounted installation better fits the orientation of the room.

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- Verizon deadzone... WiFi will be your lifeline; it's complimentary & encrypted which is more than good-enough!

--Performance--

Video streaming - average

Online gaming - good

Video chatting - good

--Nerd Stats--

17-50 Mbps download

3-23 Mbps upload

0% packet loss

12 ms latency

63 ms jitter

FOOD & DRINK -- DoorDash friendly location with neighboring restaurants & and shopping center.

Hallway vending machines have a lot of variety but are some of the most overpriced I've seen lately. A card/tap payment option would be really helpful.

Breakfast is also offered in the mornings.

Microwave & medium mini-fridge provided in the room.

NOISE -- Painfully thin walls... Full conversations can be heard with 0 effort, in the hall & in the room.

No complaints otherwise.

LOCATION -- The proximity to Royal Gorge Route & other attractions was our primary motivation for staying here & it did not disappoint.

VERDICT

Highly recommend this hotel over the neighboring ones. The staffing is lean but they give 110% & it shows.

Rideshare is sparse in this town & there's only 1 taxi service (Fremont Cab), so plan accordingly.

4/5 ⭐️
