AC Hotel Marriott, Pleasanton

CHECKIN & PROPERTY -- The staff were very hospitable, the checkin flow was just slower than average. No egregious fees for parking or early checkin.

The lobby is more function than fashion yet still a source of major candy due to the European design.

Transition spaces were calm & intimate, complemented by tasteful elevator music.

Expertly curated wall-art was a nice touch & really heightens an already elevated experience.

ROOM (walkthrough) -- Initially favorable: Relaxing color scheme featuring gorgeous wallpapers; a decent view;

lots of seating made with high-quality leather + a productive shared workspace setup. Dimensions were fair for a single guest party.

After settling in, it proved to be a mediocre accommodation (or the status quo is just inherently low).

The wear & cleanliness of the floor was unsightly. I twisted my ankle on the warped flooring on the first night. Physically & visually a rough experience for the feet...

While the view was captivating during daylight, the bright lights & noise from the parking lot at night was stressful. It goes without saying that the walls are quite thin.

The AC system is another loud noise source; at least it's performant.

Storage isn't abundant nor ideal for the vertically challenged; optimized for a solo party.

BED -- Positive sleep experience.

Pillows were A+ quality.

Sheets were decent & the mattress had balanced firmness. I regret not recording the brands from this one bc it sleeps good👌

BATH -- On the smaller side dimension-wise.

The shower experience was mostly favorable:

Strong water pressure, Grohe handheld shower, absorbent & hefty towels.

Cons:

Korres Toiletries felt dry & synthetic; reminiscent of yellow-orange industrial mass-produced handsoap.

TV & ENTERTAINMENT -- "50 wall mount TV featuring the typical Marriott Hotel TV solution. Picture quality was great but wasn't  fully compatible with Google TV.

Lots of convenient USB outlets built into the room.

WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- A rock and a hard place.

The free Internet tier was a struggle & the premium offering is insanely overpriced @ 14.95.

Cell coverage was strong enough for tethering luckily.

--Performance--

Video streaming - bad

Online gaming - poor

Video chatting - poor

--Nerd Stats--

8-10 Mbps download

7-10 Mbps upload

0% packet loss

36 ms latency

70 ms jitter

FOOD & DRINK -- DoorDash friendly + varying food options on site.

European breakfast is quite pricey though @ $19.95.

There's a huge mini-market of snacks ( cookies, chips, mints, etc) for purchase in lobby.

Smart mini fridge & 2 complimentary water bottles in-room.

LOCATION -- Location is a big selling point, with stores, transit, & shops all immediately accessible. The area felt safe as well.

VERDICT

Visually a nice property due to its well-designed exterior & interior playing up the European aesthetic.

Price gouging was off-putting & upkeep of floors felt unsafe.

Very lukewarm recommendation. I'm unsure if I'd stay here again.

3.5/5 ⭐️
